I’m so glad you’ve found me. I’m so sad you’re here.
A bereaved mother of a son who was born and died on the same day in 2008, I am dedicated to serving others who face the loss of a child. I supported parents and family members through many types of loss–from early miscarriage to elective induction following a prenatal diagnosis, to the death of babies in their first year of life. I am a trained birth and postpartum doula, with specialized training in pregnancy and infant loss.
I also companion pregnancy after loss, postpartum and parenting after a loss. In 2012 I completed training at Share National in St. Louis, MO which qualifies me to facilitate perinatal loss programs (although I believe my “real” training comes from my experience and the dozens of loss stories I have witnessed). A former director and President of Share Southern Vermont, Pregnancy and Infant Loss, Inc., I have facilitated support groups and held memorial events within the community.
I am a trained birth (DONA, 2014) and postpartum (Birth Arts International, 2017) doula. I provide support before, during, and after the loss. I am available in-person in Vermont (attending births in Chittenden, Addison, and Rutland counties), and via phone and internet to the larger community.
My services are tailored to meet your specific needs. Common ways I have helped others include:
-Phone, internet and in-person (Vermont) support leading up to birth and for up to 6 months following loss
-Birth planning when loss is anticipated
-Labor support and/or support during the immediate postpartum period; holding space for you as your story of birth and loss unfolds
-Planning and helping arranging memorials/services/postmortem care.
-Postpartum care, including physical/logistical support, as well as processing your birth/loss story
-Accompanying to medical appointments
-Providing ideas and inspiration for ways to honor and memorialize your baby and the time you have together, no matter how brief.
Prices of my services vary depending on the support requested (for example, if you seek my presence at birth and whether it is scheduled or I’ll be on-call). Because I wish my services to be accessible to all, and because my work is often needed unexpectedly, I do offer a sliding scale.
